 Bronchial samples should be collected in bronchoscopy suction pots or universal sample pots    which contain either saline or fixative

Used for the investigation of, including but not limited to, cancer and pre-cancerous conditions, infections, autoimmune disease and other related conditions.

Direct preparations should be labelled with patient’s name and date of birth and the sample should be alcohol fixed. Brush samples can be sesnt in saline solution.

 

Bronchio- Alveolar Lavage samples SHOULD be fresh and received within two hours of collection.
