Test indications

HLA Class II typing is used in the differential diagnosis of coeliac disease. The presence of the HLA genes HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 in more than 95% of patients with coeliac disease makes a diagnosis of coeliac disease very unlikely if an individual lacks both these genetic markers.
