7.5ml EDTA (Red lid). Minimal 2ml (further samples may be required if atypical antibodies are found).

Test indications

To determine a patient's ABO/RhD group and antibody status.

Interferences

Haemolysed or lipaemic samples may not be able to complete testing, whereupon new samples will be required.

N/A

Minimum retesting interval

A group and screen sample will be valid for a minimum of 3 days.
Depending on previous transfusion history and/or pregnancy, a sample may be valid for up to 7 days.
Contact the transfusion laboratory for advice.
