Paracetamol is a commonly used analgesic which, if taken in excessive amounts, can lead to toxic liver damage and, less commonly, to renal impairment. The assessment of plasma levels are indicated when an overdose is suspected.
Significant haemolysis interferes with this assay. 
Samples should be taken >4hours post dose.
