It is difficult to state a turnaround time for histology samples due to the complexity and/or variation of some requests.  Target turnaround times are set according to the national targets  as follows:

Target turnaround times: Histology 

Priority status	Turnaround time
Cancer pathway requests	90% reported within 10 days of receipt
Urgent requests	90% reported within 10 days of receipt
Routine requests	90% reported within 21 days of receipt

Unfortunately due to work load and demand,  turnaround times may be longer.
