Availability of Results
 
All authorised results are available on Sunquest ICE for viewing.
 
Final results on urine samples are usually available on the morning following receipt.
Results for most other samples for culture and sensitivity will usually be available on the second day following receipt, however, due to the nature of most bacteriological procedures, which depend on the growth of micro-organisms, culture results may take longer than this.

 
Results on samples sent for TB culture may take between 8 and 12 weeks, however significant findings will be communicated to the sender by telephone and preliminary report.
 
Results on samples sent for Fungal culture (namely Dermatophytes) may take up to 21 days to a negative result, however positive results are often available sooner


 
Results for most in house serology tests should be available within three days of receipt.


Referred serology test results may take up to 10 working days, depending on complexity.  Serology tests routinely referred include All respiratory Serology (Norfolk & Norwich Hospital Microbiology Department) and small volume and specialist blood serology (Cambridge HPA).
