Clinical Advice and Consultants
REQUESTING CLINICAL ADVICE
The microbiology clinical team comprises 3 Consultants and 1 Speciality Doctor who are based at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital. They provide clinical cover for Peterborough City Hospital, Stamford Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and GP/Community Services on a rotational basis.
For Urgent Clinical Advice:
Between 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday, contacting the duty clinical microbiologist can be done as follows:
·
Call switchboard and ask for the duty clinical microbiologist/consultant. They will either bleep the consultant or try their extension. The numbers are:
o
PCH - 01733 678000 (or 0 if internal)
o
Hinchingbrooke - 01480 416416 (or 6416 if internal)
Please note: If you are calling from outside the Trust and the microbiologist is bleeped, please remain on the line until they answer. The bleep does not show any external number and if you ring off, the consultant will not know who to ring back.
For evenings, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays, please call PCH switchboard 01733 678000 (or 0 if internal) and ask for the On-call Microbiology Consultant.
